Some time ago the sea
advanced into the land
where Cardeiro beach is
currently
situated,between
Santo Cristo Point and
Xêpa beach. After the sea
subsided a cactus plant
was found living in the
local rock formations.
This plant was very
resistant to death even
though the salt water
continuously washed over
it. This legend gave
origin to the name of the
beach.
