THE EMBROIDERER

Using techniques passed down from her forbearers, Donna Paulina Martins da Silva, 68, has been making embroideries since she was 8 years old.  According to Donna Paulina herself, she was made to learn the technique under duress; however she now enjoys making her embroideries and is also able to earn some money which pays for her extravagances such as traveling.  Donna Paullina’s inspiration for her art comes from the animal world, mainly marine. Donna Paulina can make tea towels, table runners, kitchen towel sets, skirts, shorts, blouses, pants, baby clothes and pillow case covers.
